The Courses
The Open Kitchen Courses are based on my years of professional experience coupled with my passion for food culture and systems theory. While offered separately, the Human, Food and Kitchen Systems are interrelated and directly influence your ability to develop your Intuitive Healthy HomeCooking.
Human System Courses introduce you to the elegance and complexity of human body systems, then distill that knowledge into easily digestible concepts. When we understand the intersection of our bodies and the foods we eat, we can create a supportive and sustainable food system without sacrificing flavor or fun!
Food System Courses looks at the complex web of modern food production and the value of making more discerning choices about the foods we consume. When we understand how food is produced so we can create a lasting and sustainable food system at home.
Kitchen Systems Courses start with the premise that organization is fundamental to functional food production. Beyond organization, these courses help define the kitchen as a beautiful, functional and restorative space in your home.
Intuitive Cooking Courses are hands-on, multi-sensory classes that build the foundational skills of healthy home cooking by focussing on intuition, ingredients and basic techniques. No matter your skill level, you will become a more comfortable, consistent and confident home cook creating delicious and nourishing meals. The goal is to celebrate the bounty of the seasons and create consistently delicious, healthy dishes with enjoyment and ease.
Open Kitchen also offers Nutritional Coaching and The Open Kitchen Dinner, click below for more details.

About Jason
I’ve been interested in food and hospitality since I was a kid. I’ve seen countless kitchens and worked every job title in a restaurant, from dishwasher to owner! I’ve also been blessed to work adjacent to cooking and expand my interest in and understanding of food and food culture. I’ve imported and sold cheese. I’ve sold wine and made wine. I’ve taught culinary school, teaching both professional and avocational programs. I’ve worked for and with numerous organic farms. I’ve worked as a butcher. I’ve owned a wood fired restaurant called Ned Ludd and an adjacent event space, Elder Hall. I've been featured in international books, magazines and newspapers. I’ve been featured on the TV Food Network and I’ve even been Chopped! I’ve been a teacher, mentor and coach. I have had an amazing career, and suffice to say, I love all things food related. Things I love in addition to food: my wife and two daughters, our families and our two dogs, golf, cycling, hiking and camping, foraging, fly fishing, art, design, architecture and music.
